Once we were settled in we headed off to the sea which was about a two minute walk away. We arrived just in time for the sunset.
We also had time to sit down and share a bottle of wine. We have breakfast and evening meal at this hotel but dinner is not served until 7pm so it gave us enough time to relax before we went in. The food wasn't great as it was a buffet and a bit canteeny. They had a reasonable choice so we all managed to find something that we liked. It was then straight back to the 5th floor for another bottle of €4 wine or two before we retired for an early night. Breakfast was also a buffet but it was very much better than the evening meal, especially the eggs.
We all walked to the car park where I managed to get the car out without any scrapes. Its not a massive island and we took the easy motorway route along the GC1 past Maspalomas, Playa de Ingle's to Porto de Morgan where all the flowers are. Its the opposite side of the island from the capital Las Palmas where we are staying.
We started off by walking along the beach to the end and then it was back for a coffee.
The end of the beach area is lovely and quiet but we did notice how many people there are around compared to 2011 when we were here last and its not even high season.
It really is a lovely town here that if you come to the island is a must see. Last time we caught a local bus and got the ferry back for 10€. As it was on the opposite side of the island this time we had a car but it only took about 45 minutes once we got out of town.
They have flowers everywhere and lots of really expensive ships.
We found a little cafe restaurant to have lunch in next to the bandstand where big papa was singing and playing. In the cafe opposite which was an Italian Pizza restaurant but they had a workman banging about.
He got a ladder up and was welding something around the faring. I was watching when the ladder slipped down and he came crashing down landing on some unused tables. I saw the angle that he landed and said that I hoped that nobody moves him as he was very likely to have broken the base of his spine. He didn't get up and there were several people around him helping. About 20 minutes later an ambulance arrived, put him on a stretcher and carted him off to hospital. As he came passed us he looked like he might have been unconscious.
I hope that he is OK and this incident doesn't change his life. Tomorrow we intend to have an easy day relaxing so I probably wont have much to blog about. If anything happens I will tell you once we start our cruise.

Great sunset picture, Phil. Weather also looks pretty good. Is it warm?

Yes it's lovely thank Jim. The local thermometers show between 20 and 29 degrees C. We just missed the rain before we got here where they had an entire years worth in a few days.
